2011 Addition/renovation (new home +/-) Sheldon Pennoyer Architects
Here we converted a 725 sq. ft. novelty pool house into a 3,500 sf highly efficient year-round home building double wall construction to achieve a very high standard for the building envelope to reduce energy use. The wall cavity will be as high as an R-48.2 and the roofs will be at R-55.6. This was our first new structure built under the Stretch Code/2009 IECC, setting a new standard of quality and thoughtfulness in our construction methods. (We are are proud to say our HERS rater was impressed enough with this project that he recommended us for the Near-Net-Zero house)
The siting, scale and assembly of the inter-relating modest structures, top quality materials and finishes specified by expert and supportive architects and built-in energy efficiency features make this simple, elegant 1.5 story home a favorite of our all empty-nesters/downsizers who behold it.
